Around the Ring: Weak week

I have to say that after last week's wrestling column, where it seemed like every show had something major happen and there was so much to talk about, it seems rather unusual to be here a week later writing this and not having so much to talk about at all!

On the WWE side of things, Smackdown wasn't all too impressive except we saw their champ get pinned yet again in a non-title match (didn't we see this enough with Mysterio?). Word on the net is that Davari and the Great Kahli plus a few other of the newer Smackdown “stars” are already headed to ECW. I have no idea why considering that the WWE has cut back on ECW house shows, which is even more confusing seeing how they're going to be pushing their ECW only PPV in December. ECW only? I doubt that seeing how every other WWE ECW PPV hasn't been a 100 per cent ECW card.

Speaking of PPVs, you know that anything Booker T and the Big Show (not to mention John Cena) are involved in isn't going to go anywhere, until Cyber Sunday is finished. They've already scheduled the Big Show vs. RVD for the ECW PPV (acronyms again, people) so his ECW title won't be going anywhere (unless they play their cards right and actually do a RVD vs. Cena part 2). I think Cena's title will be on the line at Cyber Sunday and he'll retain it allowing all the champs, minus Cena, to go on their respected ways to losing their titles on their own shows (Batista will have the belt before the end of the year).

Raw's show this week was absolutely horrible and another reason why I hate watching Raw sometimes before a PPV. NOTHING HAPPENS! The WWE proved once again that unfortunately the majority of their audience are sheep. Cena vs. Big Show, Booker or….COACH? Why would ANYONE want to watch that? Oh, I know…Vince made it look amusing and Coach really played the role into getting the audience to “vote” for him. Don't tell me that they didn't know Coach was going to win. I mean, as soon as Vince “announced” this “fan choice” for the night, the graphics went up on the Titan Tron! Impromptu my ass…but then again, wrestling is fake, right?

ECW this week wasn't too entertaining and while the roster of TNA did do their great thing, it was kind of disappointing to see that TNA was going back to a tournament to find the next number one contender for Sting although Christian Cage didn't get his rematch when he first lost the title a few months ago. I guess this will make compelling TV and when TNA goes to Prime Time on November 16, I'm sure that they'll be saving some big tournament matches and surprises to go into the their next PPV.
