Britain — A report released on Monday, October 30 by senior government economist, Sir Nicholas Stern, warned that “Unchecked global warming will devastate the world economy on the scale of the world wars and the Great Depression.” The report also said that the effects of global warming could shrink the global economy by 20 per cent, cause the extinction of up to 40 per cent of wildlife species and melting glaciers could cause water shortages for up to one sixth of the worlds population.

Philippians — Typhoon Cimaron battered the northern Philippians with winds of 230 kilometers per hour on Monday, October 30 claiming 15 lives and damaging many homes. Schools and Government offices have been closed and people have been advised to leave the islands high mountainous regions due to risks of mudslides. This is the 16th typhoon to devastate the Philippians this year.

Baghdad — A grim milestone was reached on Monday, October 30 when the U.S. announced its 100 death in October, making it the fourth deadliest month of the year.

Pakistan - Pakistani troops struck a religious school on Monday, October 30 which was purportedly being used as an Al-Qaida training center, killing 80 people in what is being called the country's deadliest attack against suspected militants. The country's top Islamic political leader said American planes were used in the pre-dawn strike against the school— known as a Madrassa —and called for nationwide protests Tuesday, claiming all those killed were innocent students and teachers. A U.S. military official denied any involvement in the attack in northwestern Pakistan, near the Afghan border.
