DVD Review: Superhero/lawyer hybrid a smash hit on DVD

With the success of Adult Swim's DVD releases like the top notch Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Space Ghost, we get that hilarious and inept lawyer/former 60's cartoon hero Harvey Birdman and all his antics on DVD.

For those unfamiliar with the concept of this show, it's just a bunch of absurd cases and characters trying to make the plot move from point A to point B within an 11-minute time frame. Moving from A to B involves point V and perhaps point Q in the middle of A to B. If that sentence makes no sense, then my mission is accomplished in describing this show.

Even though the plots and the sudden appearances or disruptions make no sense during the duration of each episode, one thing is certain: this show is hilarious! For the most part, animation fans or anyone who likes The Simpsons, Family Guy or other Cartoon Network Adult Swim shows will find this DVD collection piss-your-pants funny.

Like all other DVDs, this Harvey Birdman collection is filled to the brim, yes, THE BRIM, with extras including deleted scenes, commentary and more.

If you are a fan of animation and the absurd, then you will totally love Harvey Birdman. Its cast of characters and special episode cameos from old cartoon stars like the Scooby Doo gang and Fred Flinstone will make you wish that these episodes were longer than 11-12 minutes. Then again, I'm not sure any writer could continue the craziness that is showcased in these episodes for much longer than that. I can't wait for volume 2! (10 out of 10)
