Celebrity Sex-ploitation

Involving a video camera in your sexual explorations may sound like a great way to spice up your sex-life and even preserve some steamy memories, but as many celebrities know these explicitly-sexual recordings can come back to haunt you.

From the classic Paris Hilton night-vision series, “One Night in Paris,” to the newly released Screech (Dustin Diamond) installment, there are some classic celebrities caught in the act on film, and thanks to the Internet we can all enjoy them for free in the privacy of our own homes.

Rumors of sex-scapades caught on film can be dated back to actress Joan Crawford in the 1920's. Legend has it that Crawford, best know for her work with MGM in the 30's and 40's, appeared in a “stag” film before she became famous, but film producer and MGM big-wig Louis B. Mayer bought-up all copies. Mayer was not only credited with starting the fascination that is “celebrity,” but according to rumor, he was also involved with the first celebrity sex-tape cover-up.

Just prior to the convenience of the Internet, Brat —Pack member and actor Robe Lowe was the star of the first commercially sold celebrity sex tape in 1988. The tape, which was recorded during his trip to a democratic convention in Atlanta, not only involved two women, but one was only 17 and considered underage. Like all good celebrities, Lowe checked himself into an alcohol and sex-addiction clinic following the scandal.

Moving forward to modern-day sex recordings, Hollywood must credit the honeymoon of Pamela Anderson and then-husband Tommy Lee to hyping the phenomenon that it has become today. Way back in 1995, the couple were wed in a strange ceremony and followed with an even stranger honeymoon, which, of course, was all caught on tape. From their escapes in the bedroom to the infamous boat-rendezvous, the world realized that Tommy-Lee definitely has something to brag about.

The tape was allegedly stolen from the couple's home and found it's way into the hands of Internet Entertainment Group. Anderson and Lee successfully sued the group on were awarded $1.5 million, plus lawyers fees for their share in the sales of the film.

Along with posing in Playboy magazine countless times, Anderson has had her fair share of association with celebrity sex-tapes. Pictures from a sex tape with Bret Michaels, of the band Poison, and more recently her new husband, Kid Rock, has appeared in front of the camera with Creed lead singer Scott Stapp in a 45 - minute video with four fans on a tour bus.

Hollywood bad-boy, Colin Farrell has admitted to being featured in a 13-minutes sex tape with ex-girlfriend Nicole Narain. Although the actor successfully had a court order against Narain, Internet Commerce Group (ICG), and porn producer David Hans Schmidt banning it's release, the tape inevitably leaked onto the Internet in early 2006.

No one really knows why Paris Hilton is considered a celebrity, but everyone knows about “One Night in Paris.” A night-vision tape staring a camera and hog-hungry Hilton with then-boyfriend Rick Salomon (best known as the son of a Warner Bros Vice President) was leaked onto the Internet shortly before the premiere of her reality show, “The Simple Life” in 2004. Hilton raised the bar with the video, which showed full penetration, fellatio and even a segment where she performs while talking on her cellphone.

Just last month, “Saved by the Bell” star Dustin Diamond, who performed his stand-up routine at Fanshawe in the spring, was caught with a threesome with two other women. Although the tape, with the working titles of Saved by the Smell, Screech and Sniff or Diamond in the Buff has yet to be released, it has been rumoured that it involved him giving a “Dirty Sanchez” to one of the females.
