Athletics profiles of the week

This week we're revisiting the Falcon Golf team. After doing well at the Fanshawe Hosted OCAA Golf Championship Golf Tournament at Firerock Golf Course, the golf season is heading to an end but not without some Falcon glories. Both female golf players, Kristen Hanke and Rubelyn Ubando, on the Falcon team took home bronze medals at the tournament and our men placed very well also.

Our own Wes Ladoucer (who was profiled a few weeks back), represented Fanshawe at the CCAA Golf Nationals in Quebec last week.

In her own words: “This is my second year playing golf. The only reason why I started playing golf was because I got a job at Tillsonview Fairways and I got to golf for free.

My boyfriend is a huge golfer so he bought me my own set and that's when I started to love the game. I love Fanshawe's program because they really cater to the students.

I love not only the Athletic staff but also the coaches that I had this year. Mr. Shaw not only helped me with my long drive, he also helped me with my problems from getting out of the beach (sand bunker) and only he and I will truly understand how much I hated going to the beach. And then there's Mr. Peart, he was Golf God's gift to me, he made me believe in myself and by the end of the round I truly knew that I did my best.

I really hope to continue on with golf and hopefully learn more tricks on how to really concentrate on my game. Other than that, I'm hoping to continue getting involved with the Student Council as the VP Athletics and hopefully going to the next step. I love reading and just hanging out with my friends on my spare time. I also enjoy movies, all types of movies. But best of all I love hanging out with my boyfriend, I know for all the ladies out there who think that there's no such thing as a good man, trust me there is, you just have to look and be patient and hopefully you'll find him. Because I know I found mine!”
