Sheilha Jackson is a healer and has been using her gift to help others for over 40 years.

Sheilha Jackson, 75, has a gift, a gift that enables her to heal those around her, using special tools to put at ease the minds of people both young and old.

“I’m a healer first and foremost. I teach Reiki and spiritual development and I’ve been doing it for 40 years,” Jackson said. “I actually started when I was a child, but nobody knew about this stuff back then, of course.”

Jackson, who lived in London, England, made her way to Canada when her son’s fiancé was in a hit and run accident. She made the trip and healed her using Reiki discipline, a form of healing which uses universal energy to help reinforce the process.

“I was meant to come here, I was meant to stay in Canada. I wasn’t meant to be in London, England,” Jackson said.

In terms of Reiki, Jackson said it’s “all about working with energy.”

“Really words don’t do it. I see and feel energy in each individual person and of course we’re all so different, so it’s challenging to put it into words,” Jackson said. ‘I’m visual.” She attributes this to her being dyslexic.

According to Jackson, when she is channeling, she takes on the condition of the person. When her gift began, she thought she was ill and didn’t understand how to shut it off and work with the energies of it.

“My journey has been about learning,” Jackson said. “I’m all about healing the whole of the person,” she said.

Jackson has had quite a few interesting experiences using her gift, including having a heart healing moment with her father, who was dying of leukemia and was only given months to live. She had a healing energy in her heart that when she touched her father’s heart, she claims she transferred the energy and he lived for another 18 months.

“It really it sounds dramatic, but that’s how I consciously knew I had a healing ability,” Jackson said.

She said she has also seen her father materialize in front of her at one point.

Jackson said she also deals with the passing of people and their presence and energy going through her, which she said makes the death easier.

“The thing is, I love it, I love what I do. It’s not all heavy,” Jackson said. “The spirit world really does come through.”

Jackson said through guidance, messages and healing is how she helps people.

Jackson also loves working with young people and is excited to come to Fanshawe and give mini readings to the students.

Jackson said she is pro-Fanshawe but is a little nervous to come to campus because of the work she does.

People who come to her will get an individual healing or reading, or guidance from Jackson.

“At the end of the day, I honour the person’s individual spirit,” Jackson said. “You never know who you’re going to meet,” she said.

“I’m do motivational speaking and would love to get in to inspire [students] and answer questions. It’s more about helping them to gain confidence so that they can find out things about themselves.” Jackson said.

Jackson will be on campus at the Psychic Fair Oct. 31 in Forwell Hall from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
