Around the Ring: Ownership questions in wrestling

If you missed the news that came at the end of the last TNA PPV two Sundays ago, TNA Impact will now be on at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday nights starting on November 16. Although that is good news, the REAL BIG news is that TNA has signed former WWE champion, Kurt Angle! KURT “FREAKIN' ANGLE!” How's THAT for some news?

This brings TNA up another notch in the wrestling war with the WWE. But if you think about it, how on earth did this happen?

First off, Kurt Angle is supposedly in bad shape, due to painkillers, his personal life falling apart and his broken down body that needs time to heal. I'm the first to say that we're not Angle's doctors and we don't know his doctors. Hell, we don't even get the privilege of seeing a doctor's report on Angle, so how are us “reporters/internet columnists” really supposed to know the extent of his problems? The WWE supposedly came to terms with Angle and decided to end his contract because of his problems. So why would Angle not take more time and immediate go to TNA?

Speaking of immediate, how on earth is Angle out of the WWE without some sort of no-compete clause? Brock Lesnar didn't get out of the WWE without a 10 YEAR clause! Other wrestlers usually have at least a 90-day no-compete clause, but the WWE let Angle go without any clause whatsoever? Did they just really think he was going to take the time off to heal or retire? I don't think Vince is that dumb!

In an article written by Phantom Lord on Wrestling-Edge.com, entitled “McMahon Owns TNA.” some interesting tid-bits are pointed out that actually make you think that it's not that far-fetched of an idea that the title suggests. He also references an article by former ECW Referee, John ‘Pee Wee' Moore, that shoots on the industry pretty fierce and alludes to Kurt Angle actually joining TNA way before this all happened! You can go to the aforementioned article and there's a hyperlink included there, or if you want to see this prediction first, you can go to http://www.declarationofindependents.net/ and search for Moore's articles -especially the one entitled, “How Owns Wrestling.” Very interesting stuff.

Smackdown was boring again, Raw went nowhere fast and included Smackdown “superstars” this week, so there's really nothing to report. See how fast TNA can slap the WWE in the face so fast? Well, maybe Mr. McMahon is behind it! For you major wrestling fans out there, I really encourage you to read those articles and either write to me at popeyepopsolive@hotmail.com or the Interrobang to give your thoughts on the articles and the present situation at hand. Speaking of shoot or work, what are your thoughts on Bichoff's mic getting promptly cut during his promo on Raw when he was ragging on McMahon?
