Staylefish fresh on the scene

Quickly becoming a staple on campus, London-based band Staylefish managed to hit-up Fanshawe twice during the Frosh week.

The first time was at the Out Back Shack, where they played to a small crowd but still put on a fun show. The second time was as one of the opening acts for Bedouin Soundclash, which was on a much-larger stage and crowd to pump-out their music.

Staylefish rocked-out hard both times and put on great shows. Showing that no matter where their stage is located, the guys in Staylefish are dedicated musicians who never fail to please.

Officially on the music scene around London since 2002, the Staylefish line-up has been ever changing since then, trying to find artists with the same musical tastes and ambition. The change-up has paid-off and it looks like the right guys have been found.

With Chad Kivisto and Jay Duwyn on guitar, vocals and keyboard, Richard “Dready” Howard on vocals, Dereyk Goodwin on drums, Dan Tran on lead guitar and Johnny Duwyn on bass guitar, the current line-up has been consistent for eight-months now.

Staylefish have been mostly focusing on the London music scene, which has gained them a strong following and many ties with fellow bands, such as Angry Agency. They have also played many benefit concerts, including Huron in Honduras, which raised $2,500.

Over the past two years, Staylefish even took home several prestigious Jack Richardson awards, which solidifies the group as a staple in the thriving London music scene.

With a strong left wing, socially understanding persona, the band and tries to touch on a various number of messages regarding politics and social development. Staylefish takes their musical inspiration from a various number of bands, including Sublime, Thrice and Bob Marley.

If you've missed any of the past shows at Fanshawe then you should defiantly check these guys out at Call The Office on October 6, when they drop their band new full-length CD.
