The fashion and interior design world share many intriguing similarities, including the love of colour, texture, textiles, lines, silhouettes, artistic and personal expression.

Fashion tells a story of an individual through her outfit, her interests and personality type from what she wears. Interior designers set the mood and aura of an individual through the use of space combined with all the relative design elements as in fashion. The energy of a room can set the mood of a person, and therefore reflect what she would wear and approach their day.

You don't have to be a master of feng shui to be great at arranging a room to set the tone of that space — think of it as styling an outfit. Pick the theme of the room, then the colour palette and then any key patterns, details and pieces that will help contrast and define the space. Coming up with ideas to avoid clutter and maximize tidiness will always bring forward the main details you want to highlight in the room.

One interior designer that is influential in this week's look is Kelly Wearstler, a CEO, interior designer, fashion designer, author and mother. She is a master at her craft, her work appearing in countless editorial magazines such as ELLE Décor, Architectural Digest and Vogue. Her designs are strong, defined, contrasting and exceptionally interesting. She mixes patterns with other busy patterns, bold lines and metallic accents. She uses a broad range of show-stopping décors with vintage, art deco and modern influences. Although there are so many themes going on in her rooms, they are undeniably inspiring and will keep your mind interested and flowing with creative ideas.

This week's art deco-printed blouse is contrasted by a bold black mandarin collar. The detail is simplistic and but it creates some boundaries for the bold print. The blouse can be worn with pretty much everything from jeans to leggings to shorts or tucked into a boldly-printed skirt. It is paired with a black and gold art deco necklace with a snakeskin texture to break up some of the busy print. Another option that reflect a “Kelly Wearstler interior” is to contrast with a nude floral detailed statement necklace, since much of her work also plays up the mixing of busy prints and making them work beautifully together.

A way to keep your style interesting is by always incorporating your inspirations from different areas of design, life and creative figures that inspire you. It is easy to seek ideas from interior design for fashion choices because the two worlds can be so intertwined. to seek ideas from interior design for fashion choices because the two worlds can be so intertwined.
