Restaurants often find themselves overloaded with Valentine's Day festivities, and the fact that this year's big day falls on a Friday will lead to a very busy one for most restaurants in London. Reservations will be made, waiting lists will fill up, and restaurants will be hectic. However, it is an important night for the food industry, as it is a special night for people. Colin Hill, dining room manager of Saffron's Restaurant here on campus, noted that Valentine's Day is usually one of the busiest days in the industry. Saffron's restaurant, located in A building, is where Fanshawe's culinary and hospitality students use the dining room as a practical lab getting hands-on experience.

Saffron's has one of the best Valentine's Day specials in all of London; Hill said they're offering a three-course set menu for two people for $50. With a choice of three appetizers, the entrée is beef tenderloin, chicken or pickerel, with crème brûlée, a chocolate specialty or ice cream for dessert. This Valentine's Day, price doesn't need to be an issue, because Saffron's restaurant accepts meal plan cards.

Saffron's restaurant is business-casual, with a beautiful yet comfortable dining room, for you and your significant other to enjoy this Valentine's Day. “Usually with our menu we try to keep the prices very low so we can get all sorts of customers; we have students that come in, teachers that work here and the outside public as well.” Saffron's, like most restaurants, has a wait list available so you can snag a table when someone unexpectedly has to cancel their reservations.

“A lot of people that don't usually go out for dinner, will go out on this day,” Hill said. Make sure to make your reservations early or you might end up on the waiting list — restaurants will fill up faster than you could imagine.
