Seeking women with great ideas

BizInc and the Women's Entrepreneurship Initiative (Her WEI) at Brescia University College are teaming up to present the Women's Entrepreneurship Showcase on November 27.

The goal of the event is to introduce female students at Western University and Fanshawe College to entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship as a possible career path. Check it out for female entrepreneurs and social entrepreneurs, as well as individuals and organizations that support entrepreneurship in the London area.

According to the Women's Entrepreneurship Showcase website, less than 15 per cent of small businesses and less than eight per cent of medium businesses in Canada are female sole or majority owned. “Young women need role models, coaches, mentors and investors to be successful entrepreneurs,” the website states. “Oncampus incubator/accelerators report that women represent only 18 per cent of their clients. We'd like to change that.”

Check out the Women's Entrepreneurship Showcase on November 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. at The Mercato in Brescia University College (1285 Western Rd.). For more information, go to brescia.uwo.ca/HerWEI.html.
