As the spring season is quickly approaching, so are the latest makeup trends! Most department and beauty stores are already starting to release the newest fabulous colour selection and brilliant powders.
Spring makeup always tends to be on the “fresher” and “lighter” side, but the 2013 trends have added a bit more of a pronounced and glamorous look. We see much colour and radiance hit the runways, and these are easily transferable to an everyday spring look!
One of the biggest trend changes for spring is the colour of the lip; usually we tend to see soft pinks and pale lips, but 2013 is full of all shades of red. Adding a shade of red — whether it's a scarlet, crimson or deep red — to your lips can create a more dramatic look, so keeping your eyes really neutral will help balance your look. Of course, when wearing a red lip, always make sure to line your lips first to prevent bleeding.
The simplest trend that hit the runway this upcoming season (and is usually a woman's must-have product) is a basic black eyeliner. There are so many different things you can do with an eyeliner, but by simply lining your waterline and top lash line, you can achieve a soft look (when using a kohl eyeliner) that will really accentuate your eyes. To turn this into an evening makeup, you can effortlessly sweep some gunmetal or dark grey eye shadow on top of the eyeliner to create a smoky and sultry look.
The next trend can be a bit tricky to achieve as it is about creating a unique effect with the eyelashes. This eyelash trend has definitely been inspired by the 1960s, and specifically by British model Twiggy. Mascara makers usually strive to create a formula that doesn't clump eyelashes together, but clumped-together eyelashes is an extremely popular look this spring. You can achieve this by using the tip of a mascara wand and grouping your eyelashes into small, even sections to create the famous '60s look. Add some white eyeliner to your waterline to soften your eyes!
Lastly, a trend that is either loved or hated is bold brows. This trend keeps coming back, though it usually faces a lot of criticism because many younger women love to have their eyebrows perfectly sculpted. However, filling in the brows with some darker brow powder to create a thicker shape can actually be quite complementary to a person's face shape.
While the spring trends are a bit more subtle, they are usually quite easy to achieve and can be really flattering. It is also a perfect time to take a bit of a break from the heavier makeup trends that happen in the winter and holiday season. Which trends are you willing to try this season? Will you dare to go for bold brows?
