It's been one hell of an awards season so far with major snubs, unexpected wins and some of the fiercest competition that Tinseltown has seen in years. It's all set to culminate in the one awards show that everyone is waiting for, that everyone worked towards: the Academy Awards. The ceremony is set to air on Sunday, February 24, and with a few days left, it's about time we looked at who might get to take home the ultimate honours this year.

Cinematography
This award seems likely to go to Life of Pi as it's the most technically cinematic film of all the nominees.

Costume Design
Almost certainly going to Les Misérables for their period costumes.

Documentary Feature
I think this one will go to Invisible War, though this category is always anyone's game.

Documentary Short
As with the feature category, anything could happen, but my money's on Inocente.

Film Editing
I've got to give this one to Argo. It's been cleaning up at all the awards shows so far this season.

Foreign Language Film
Of course I'm rooting for the Canadian film nominated in this category, War Witch.

Make-up and Hair Styling
Likely this award will go to The Hobbit: And Unexpected Journey for its extensive use of prosthetics.

Music Original Score
This category is a little less certain but I think it will end up going to Anna Karenina.

Music Original Song
Absolutely going to Skyfall by Adele.

Production Design
As period pieces tend to win in this category, I'd say it's between Les Misérables and Anna Karenina.

Short Film Animated
Doesn't everyone want The Longest Daycare to win? Wouldn't it just be great if The Simpsons won an Oscar?

Short Film Live Action
Another tough category to predict, but I think it might go to Curfew.

Sound Editing
Zero Dark Thirty should have this one in the bag.

Sound Mixing
With all the balance in the musical numbers, I'd say that Les Misérables should absolutely take this one home.

Visual Effects
I'm actually hoping this one goes to Prometheus, though it might be a long shot.

Writing Original Screenplay
Zero Dark Thirty, absolutely.

Writing Adapted Screenplay
Argo with likewise certainty.

Directing
Well, we all know that Ben Affleck really should win this one, but since Argo was snubbed by the the Academy in this category, I think it will instead go to David O. Russell for Silver Linings Playbook.

Best Supporting Actress
Without a doubt, Anne Hathaway for Les Misérables.

Best Supporting Actor
Though each and every one of the nominees has won an Oscar before, I think it's high time that Robert De Niro got his second.

Best Actress
This is actually a really tough one, and it all comes down to Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Lawrence. Ultimately, I think it'll be Chastain who takes it.

Best Actor
As per usual, when Daniel Day-Lewis is nominated, you know whose name will be coming out of that envelope.

Best Picture
With 10 films nominated this year, it's a tricky pick. I think the short list will definitely be Les Misérables, Silver Linings Playbook, Zero Dark Thirty and Argo. Ultimately, though, I think that Hollywood will give the top honours to Argo.
