Hey Funshawe - mark your calendars!

Bring your packed suitcase to the Thursday night pub, February 23 in the Out Back Shack and you may wake up Friday morning in TORONTO!

The FSU in cooperation with the Child Youth Worker students are presenting the Suitcase Pub. Students over the age of 19 are encouraged to bring their packed suitcase to the pub (we will have a safe room to store all of your travel bags) because if you win the draw, you're going to Toronto!

At 11:30 pm, we will draw one of the checked suitcase names. That student and their guest (who must also be 19 years of age) will win a weekend in Toronto. They will depart at midnight from the Out Back Shack, a car and driver will transport them to the Delta Chelsea Hotel. Entries and suitcase storage are only $1.

Your accommodations are paid for until Sunday, February 26, and the winning student also receives $200 cash, Greyhound transportation to London on Sunday, plus tickets to Yuk Yuk's Downtown Comedy Club. A great kick-off to the spring break!

We will also be drawing a “Not so Grand” runner-up adventure, which is cab fare to the Motor Court Motel on Dundas. We've booked the Honeymooner Suite, complete with a heart-shaped bed, whirlpool tub and fireplace. Included in this prize are McDonalds coupons for breakfast and a disposable camera to record this special evening in London.

You must first purchase a ticket from the Biz Booth or CYW student to attend this Suitcase Pub, tickets are $2 advance or $3 at the door.

Here is your chance, all you closeted Rock Stars. Strap on the axe and wail like Ol' Moby Dick. Yes that is right; Fanshawe's annual Battle of the Bands is back.

If you play original music (DJs excluded...sorry!) and are a Fanshawe student this is for YOU! Bands must have AT LEAST one Fanshawe student playing in the band (Student ID will be required). All styles of music are welcome and encouraged. The sets must be 80 per cent original material; set lengths will be 20 mins.

The preliminary battle will be held at the Out Back Shack and will take place on both Monday March 20th & Tuesday March 21st at 9pm with the overall finals being held on Friday March 24th. Winners from the competition will take home cash prizes. As well, the first place winner will advance to the Ontario Regional Campus Music Explosion to compete against other schools' bands. Winner of the Ontario Regional Finals receive an expenses paid trip to the COCA National Conference in Edmonton, Alberta in June to display their band's skills in front of all the Entertainment Programmers from all the Colleges and Universities in Canada.

Sign up sheets will be available at the Biz Booth starting March 8th, 2006. For more information please contact Mark Rawson via e-mail at mrawson@fanshawec.on.ca
You want a formal? You got it!

So many people have been suggesting having a semi-formal event at Fanshawe, and finally, your prayers are being answered.

On either April 1 or 8, 2006 (depending on the faculty strike status) the SAC, along with FAB and residence RAs are organizing a residence semi-formal charity event. It will be held in the Oasis with two seating arrangements, upper level being the VIP area (tickets are more expensive, but oh, the perks!) We are planning to hire and live piano player to play in the Alumni Lounge and there will be a DJ set up downstairs for those who want to get their groove on! And we don't stop there — there are so many more things planned to look forward to at the formal, including a midnight buffet!

The charity that SAC has chosen to support is Jesse's Journey, which is the main fundraiser for the month of April.

Now you're probably wondering why we're advertising so early. Well, its because we want to give the guys enough time to find a date and the ladies enough time to find the perfect dress!

If you would like to make any suggestions on how we can make this great event even better, or if you have any questions please email me at rubelyn_0230@hotmail.com and I would be more than happy to chat with you!
