Beauty Boy: Festive glitter

Even though the dreaded (by some) snow is right around the corner, it means that the festive season is closer than ever. We all know that the festive season is the perfect excuse to wear as much glitter as we want (without looking like Ke$ha, of course). With many of the cosmetic lines having their holiday collections out, there is so much to choose from to create your glamorous holiday look!

The most important thing when using glitter is to make sure it is balanced. You do not want to have your eyes completely covered with glitter if you are wearing a glittery lip gloss and have a highlighter that contains glitter; it will look way too over-the-top. Pick one feature that you really want to accentuate with the glitter and then make the other features a little more subtle.

For a festive evening look, you can have a really glittery eye using Lise Watier's Duo Shadow and Glitter. Apply a really thin layer of the cream eyeshadow to the eyelid and then gently pat on the glitter using the plastic glitter brush. Make sure not to use too much of the cream or else it will start to crease during the evening. Another tip when using a glitter product on the eye is to do your eyes before your foundation so you are able to wipe off any "fall-aways" without ruining your foundation.

A more subtle eye look could consist of your favourite eye shadows or even a smoky eye with a glitter eyeliner to give the look a festive flare. Gosh and Lise Watier offer the highest-quality glitter liners that are perfect for the holiday season. If you choose to do a simpler eye, then you can bring out the lips by adding a high-shine lip gloss. Bourjois's Lip Gloss 3D Effect has a beautiful array of colours that have a glimmering shine and aren't overly sticky. If you want a gloss that has more colour to it, Lancôme's Juicy Tubes are the perfect solution.

If you really like to keep your look simple and don't like wearing too much makeup, then a highlighter would be a perfect alternative. It is subtle but will still add a glittery shine to your complexion to give it a festive feel. Benefit's Watt's Up is a highlighting stick that can be apply to the brow bone and cheek bones to give the complexion a festive glow. This product also has a brush on the other side so that you are able to blend the highlighter into your foundation flawlessly.

Since the holidays are so close and the festive cosmetic collections have already been released, it's time to buy your glitter now before it runs out! Unfortunately, a lot of festive collections are special edition and are only available until they are sold out (which usually happens fairly quickly), so it's best to stock up before it's too late!
