Bus service to Fanshawe lacking

Dear Editor:

I was the first person in line to catch the Oxford West bus on Wednesday, September 14 at 1:55 p.m. Approximately 100 people were waiting by the time the bus showed up (late as usual). I was pushed and hit repeatedly as people fought to get on, and eventually I was shoved into the street by a big burly guy twice my size!!

I am understandably very upset. I have to go to Fanshawe every day and I choose to take the bus for convenience and to save money. But there aren't enough buses and people are routinely left behind, so when a bus arrives, everyone panics and fights to get on. I am not going to get hit by a car because London Transit won't provide enough buses and the students at Fanshawe are choosing to act like animals!

I don't understand how they justify running three buses an hour on that route when there is an obvious need for more. There are at least three routes that serve the college that go downtown, but if you need to go west, there aren't any other options! With the ongoing strike, I assume that people are driving less and that's why the buses are even worse than usual. But people are getting angry and aggressive and I think it's only a matter of time before someone gets really hurt. I know I won't feel safe taking the bus anymore, but I simply don't have a choice.

Christina
