What fall has in store for you

Another summer passed, another autumn approaching. Fashion's favourite season, fall/winter, boasts the most hype and arguably most innovative and creative collections. Editors, bloggers and fashion slaves alike agree that autumn is the superlative season to recreate your wardrobe and add new key pieces that can in turn be used to build off come spring.

So what does this mean to us mere mortals who have yet to sit front-row? Lucky for us, there is no lack of selection to refresh and revamp our closets thanks to some new and superstar shops that have just landed in our home and native land. Brand new shiny fall attire, indeed!

Topshop:
Finally, the wait is over! We first got a tiny taste of this British fashion staple last spring when they started shipping to Canada (my Euro friends were thrilled I didn't have to harass them to ship me Topshop's delights anymore). Opening inside the Bay at Yorkdale Mall in Toronto, Canada's oldest retailer will be carrying the newest line. As of September 20, you will officially be able to get your hands on longawaited goods like their fun party frocks, It-Brit Beatle boots and designer collaborations. As for collections, Topshop's current assortments of style have got you covered, from the super-trendy Festival Shop to New Mod to Prim and Polished. Fun, pretty lingerie and every kind of shoe imaginable, from deep teal velvet cut out wedges to amazing leopard-print flats to motorcycle boots, will round out and anchor all the new outfits you'll be able to put together with the goods Topshop has to offer.

J.Crew:
The excitement surrounding J.Crew's announcement of opening a shop in Toronto's Yorkdale Mall was almost parallel to receiving news that man had landed on the moon. Men, women and children alike are positively elated as there are many dedicated and die hard J.Crew fans who have crossed the border with the sole purpose of scooping up their famous luxurious basics. Balancing trendy and timeless, J.Crew offers up amazing new and current collections along with their staple and always-available all-time favourite pieces. This season, jewel-toned silk blouses, pencil skirts paired with slouchy tees, cashmere sweater dresses and brightly-hued outerwear can be matched with their classic striped tees, boyfriend cardigans, slim trousers, school-boy blazers and button-down shirts. Classic yet modern beach wear, shoes, sleepwear, accessories, handbags and intimates ensure that there's something for everyone.

Express:
Known for its work wear as much as its nighttime wear, Express is the ultimate one-stop shop. Blending silk shirtdresses and tweed dress pants, they've got you covered from office to cocktails. Fun and flirty garments like sequined hot pants, miniskirts and party dresses are fun dress-up pieces while wide-leg trousers, blouses and button-downs are nobrainers for essential professional attire. Express also has a stellar collection of casual wear made up of graphic tees, great denim in a variety of styles and easy knits. The best part? It's super affordable. Launching five stores across Canada this year with Toronto's Fairview Mall location being the first, it's almost certain it'll gain immediate popularity and success nationwide.

Intermix:
By far the most exciting addition to my shopping repertoire, Bloor Street's about to get even more glamorous (if that's possible) with Intermix's first Canadian boutique. Stocked with trendy, exclusive Alist labels, Intermix has quite a celebrity following, but unlike some other Hilton and Kardashian — frequented shops, Intermix is really … well … cool. Buyers have a knack for knowing what fashion girls love before they do, and favourites like Joie, Rag & Bone, Diane Von Furstenberg, Vince and Helmut Lang can be found alongside lesser-known labels like A.L.C., Splendid and Enza Costa. Everything from the shop décor to the tunes playing to the chicks behind the counter ooze stylish appeal and make it nearly impossible not to fall for the gorgeous garments. Although you may drop your whole paycheck, you won't mind because you'll be blissfully (and fashionably) happy with your Elizabeth and James suede boots or Mulberry Alexa bag.
