Fun and Fitness: Wishing you a fun and fit summer

It's hard to believe that we've already reached the end of the school year. It sounds cliché, but each year definitely goes by faster and faster. I won't keep you guys long since it's crunch time and you're all frantically finishing up last-minute assignments and preparing for exams. But before I sign off, I'd like to leave all of you with some food for thought.

Don't fall into the "summer rock star" lifestyle. This is your warning. Take a good look back at your 2010/2011 school year. Now try to recollect your eating habits, your exercise habits and your partying habits. Let's face it, for the most part, especially first year students, most of you get an A+ for falling off the health wagon. Now amplify that in the summer when there are tons of cold drinks to be had on those hot, sunny days. It's easy to get caught partying non-stop throughout the summer, yet that basketball net in your driveway doesn't see a lick of action.

Summertime is the best time to party and bike/rollerblade/swim/walk/jog/run/play sports/dance/skinny-dip followed by running from police. I think you guys get my point - summer is a great time to get fit as well!

Make a conscious effort to remember that the summer season should be the best opportunity of the year for all aspects of your lives. Work hard to party harder. For some of you, it's your first year of college and you'll be returning in no time. For others, you'll be graduating and moving on with the rest of your lives. Either way, it's been my pleasure to have had the opportunity to write for you. I look forward to doing it all over again next year. I wish the best to everyone who'll be moving on. As for those of you returning with your summer tans and dyed hair-dos, don't forget to bring your best physiques and healthiest minds!
