Calling the shots on the court

Tina Teng is looking to do big things for the women's basketball team down the stretch run of the season.

First-year player Teng is referred to as the "play caller." She controls the pace of the game and allows her teammates to get set up and play better as a team. She starts nearly all of the games and is one of the top players on the Falcons.

Teng is in her second year of the multi-media design program. She said she is working on bringing her grades up so she can return to Fanshawe next year. She hopes to one day work as a magazine designer.

"This year has been a learning experience," said Teng, referring to the fact that this year's team has more new players than returning players.

The ladies, who are battling for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference, are looking to Teng's playmaking abilities to power their way past the competition.

"Provincials aren't out of reach and that is still the current goal for the team," said Teng. "Scoring has been a bit of a problem lately... but it will come eventually."

Hopefully Teng and the rest of the Falcons can find their scoring ways, as they only have one more regular season game left before playoffs.
