Chadbourn's Fanshawe career coming to a close
“I love the game, and I will keep playing after I am done school if I can,” said Chadbourn.
After playing the sport for nine years she has come to love it.
“When I was in high school I just liked the sport. So I went to the tryouts and I got put on the team because I was tall, then I just stuck with it,” said Chadbourn.
The women are sporting a very good record going into the playoffs, and hopefully that record will materialize into an OCAA gold medal.
“I want to win the gold medal, I always have. But my short term goals are to improve myself, play harder and work better. Winning is very important, I can't really describe how important it is, it just is important. I guess winning games makes you feel good about yourself, makes you feel good about your team, it just reassures you that you can do it, that you can make it,” explained Shauna.
The girls faced off against Nippising, which happens to be Chadbourn's favourite school to go head to head against.
“I enjoy playing against them, it's fun. I don't really hate any team, but if I would have to choose I would say I most dislike playing against Humber. They are very skilled and well-organized. It is always a tough game.”
On and off the court, Chadbourn is continually trying to better herself.
“I try to eat well and do a lot of cardio outside of practice. I always know there are places I can improve on, and I try to work on those areas so that I am a better player.”
She has come a long way since her high school days, and she will be very much missed by the volleyball organization at Fanshawe.
