Two teams on the road to OCAA

National championships are within reach for a pair of Fanshawe teams.

The Fanshawe Falcons women's soccer team is set to compete in the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) national tournament being held at Langara College in British Columbia starting on November 10th.

The Fanshawe cross-country squad will team up with the rest of the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) in hopes of bringing a national championship to the province on Ontario.

This year's 2005 OCAA Women's Soccer Champion, Fanshawe will be looking to continue their near perfect season in Vancouver. The Falcons are ranked fourth and enter the championship with a 10-1-0 provincial record.

Fanshawe is set to kick-off on Thursday, November 10 at 1:00pm against the sixth ranked Thompson Rivers University of British Columbia.

The 2005 CCAA Cross Country Open Championships are set to begin on Saturday November 12th.

“With over 28 participating institutions and a total of 185 runners (71 women and 114 men), it looks to be the biggest CCAA Cross Country Open yet,” stated Fred Batley, Tournament Chair and Sir Sandford Fleming College Athletic Director.

“We are looking forward to receiving the nation's best runners for what will surely be an exciting competition.”

Fanshawe's John Mason, who is ranked second in the OCAA, is the Falcons best shot at medalling for the OCAA team in the CCAA Open race.
