Organizations will be on campus to connect with student volunteers

Over 15 volunteer service organizations will be at Fanshawe College's main campus recruiting students looking to volunteer their time.

While several programs within the college require students to complete volunteer hours any student wishing to volunteer can attend the volunteer fair on October 7 in F-building in front of the bookstore. The fair is an easy and convenient opportunity for students to connect with volunteer organizations on campus with the Fanshawe Student Union organized volunteer fair.

The volunteer fair will include a wide variety of organizations that are seeking students to become a part of their organizations such as; The United Way, Big Brothers & Sisters, Scouts Canada, LUSO, McCormick Home, Pillar, Animal Outreach, London Public Library, Dearness Homes, London Children's Museum, etc.

According to the Big Brothers, Big Sisters website, “Almost anyone can be a volunteer and it doesn't take much time to share a little magic with a young person.”

Volunteering at this organization is a great way for students to meet new people and get to know their own community while taking on the roles of a big brother or sister, or an in-school mentor.

“At United Way, we believe in the power of people coming together to make a difference,” as stated on the United Way website. There are a variety of different roles that the United Way is asking volunteers to take part in.

“It's a great opportunity to have fun and build your resume,” said Kevin McKay, FSU Vice-President Internal.

Fanshawe Students are invited to come out to F-building in front of the bookstore on October 7 from 10a.m. - 2:30p.m.
