The torch is coming

Olympic torch to make a stop at Fanshawe

The Olympic torch will be running its way to Fanshawe College this week.

On Monday, April 6, 2009, Coca Cola is presenting the Sogo Carry the Flame Expo out front J Gym between 3 and 4:30 pm.

“We are excited they (Coca Cola) chose Fanshawe College as their only other destination in London,' said John Young, Operations Manager at Fanshawe College.

Prior to making a stop at Fanshawe, the Expo will be making a brief stop in Victoria Park between 11 and 1 pm.

There will be an exhibit inside the touring bus, which includes historical torches, a creative running game and a chance to be a torchbearer at the Olympics, mentioned Young.

A special kiosk will be set up in the Student Centre giving students a chance to have their photo taken with the torch.

The Coca Cola presented Expo is an Active National program aimed at Canadian youth to get active en route the Olympics.

In collaboration with Participaction, the program will aim at leading physical activity for today's youth through organized events by activity experts.

“We are excited to have this opportunity...with the Olympics and it's our small Olympic moment here on (Fanshawe's) campus. [It] shows partnerships work,” added Young.
