This spring you don't have to play the fashion victim- there are a number of hot styles showing for the end of winter.

We're seeing a great assortment in denim including washes, silhouettes and rise that were popular last year along with a handful of fresh alternatives. Finally, you can decide the pair that best suits you!

One thing is for certain, this spring is jam packed full of variety when it comes to selecting the perfect pair of jeans. There is a style to fit any image from grunge inspired to glamorous sophistication. Sure your favourite worn pair of denim will work for next season, but if you're after a little change; here are some got-to-buy pairs from my spring/summer wish list.

The first of the bunch has received a wide acceptance from a handful of members of the taste-making community. Cropped skinny jeans in a snow white denim hue are the best way to make an edgy statement. For all those readers who consider themselves to be fashion risk-takers then consider this style with distressed rips galore! Given the length, they are the perfect bottom to wear with some statement making shoes or your beloved flats for comfort. Swap your leggings for these cropped skinnies for a fresh substitute.

Next in line is the tapered trouser, which has proven to be a piece of importance for spring. Dated may be the first adjective that comes to mind, but the trick is to counter balance these pants with a smart top and chic platforms. If the shape is what you're worried about, you have nothing to fear; the cut of this style is figure friendly and actually flatters most body shapes and sizes.

Boyfriend jeans are anything but pants your significant other would wear. First spotted on fashion icon Katie Holmes, they're selling like hotcakes. Their fuss free appearance teamed with their trade mark comfort won them a spot on my list. Wear them low on your hips as a slouchy style borrowed from the boys. Opt for a bleached out wash and pair it with a neon skinny belt-a look seen on many spring runways. Another perk to this style is they look equally flattering rolled up as they do worn down.

The 1970's influence is back for yet another warm season. A high waist line combined with a loose leg creates a flattering fit. The high rise will keep your centre cinched in and the wide leg will give the illusion of longer and leaner stems (if worn with a high heel).

With so much variety, it can be hard to decide on one pair of denim. But if you're student budget can only allow you to buy one pair of jeans this spring, I suggest choosing versatile dark denim in which ever style suits your figure and image. Due to the nature of dark denim, it can be worn with anything as an all-season wardrobe staple. They work well as bottoms for both casual and dressy outfits. What's more, dark denim is very slimming!

There you have it, dear readers, my top four favourites from the spring '09 jean pool, each of them superbly in-jeanious!
