Around the Ring: Cage to WWE? RAW flat

Well, the latest TNA PPV has come and gone, so let's look at some of the stuff that mattered:

Christian Cage lost to Booker T and unfortunately joined the Main Event Mafia. Let me ask you this: why on Earth would you want someone in your “gang” who didn't want to be there? The answer lies with this week's Impact taping (which will have aired by the time you read this). Supposedly, the MEM beat up Christian and Angle yells something about WWE to him. I guess TNA is going to keep Christian off TV for a while until he decides whether or not he'll resign with the company or actually go back to WWE. At this point, with the WCW feel TNA is having right now, I hope he goes back and kicks ass in WWE.

Could you tell by the second match on the card that all the TNA “originals” (ugh - stupid term) were going to have their asses handed to them by the MEM? The only real solid match came from Kurt Angle and Abyss. The spots were great but not too risky. AJ Styles did ok against Sting but Sting not selling (plus the fact that by this time everyone knew that he wasn't going to get the win) really hurt the match. What made this match even more confusing was the fact that the rest of the MEM ran to the ring to interfere with the match. Well, if that was the case, why didn't they just do it right off the bat?

On WWE's side of things, with RAW GM Mike Adamle resigning last week, I was really looking forward to this week's edition. It even started off well with Batista coming down to the ring to use his rematch clause. Unfortunately, Stephanie McMahon came on with a (previously taped promo) informing Batista that he couldn't use it because the next person in line was John Cena and she wasn't going to go against her brother's decision. Wait...weren't they bickering a bit last week? Ok...that makes no sense. And wouldn't someone have told Batista that this would be the case sometime in the week leading up to this RAW? Wouldn't Batista grab a lawyer and find somewhere in his rematch clause that states that this “rule” isn't really applicable?

Stephanie McMahon then told the crowd that this RAW was going to put an end to some issues so Rey Mysterio vs. Kane and HBK vs. Chris Jericho were announced AGAIN! By this point, I was ready to shut off the show! Why did we have to watch these matches again. We have two weeks to build towards one of the big four PPVs of the year and they're not developing anything? That's stupid.

Speaking of stupid, right after the show, they announced that in a Survivor Series classic match, HBK would team up with Mysterio, the Great Khali (???) and Cryme Tyme to battle JBL, Kane, MVP and the team of Miz & Morrison. This isn't laying any “issues” or feuds to rest or providing a match that makes you want to part with your money.

William Regal beat Santino Marella for the IC belt. Regal gets the win once again in England, but does that mean he'll drop it to Santino back in the US. Is Regal a face or heel? What about Santino? Was his reign for nothing? If he wins it back, he could bring back his tally chart and ignore the loss. Geez...I don't know what they're trying to build here.

Let's hope that next week will be a little sanity in the world of wrestling!
