Fall's selection of sexy ankle boots were made for walking

They're an ideal footwear choice for just about any outfit from city fashion to casual classics. Pair them with a stellar drain pipe pant, your favourite legging or patterned tights with a full skirt. The possibilities are endless, along with the styles this seasons ankle boots have to offer.

Peep toe booties are a must have this fall. Shoe designers have snatched up the popular summer classic (peep toe style) and incorporated it into a fall bootie for an unexpected sexy detail. If you're worried about maintaining those weekly pedicures you've grown accustomed to during the summer months, don't fret. Though these kicks look dashing with painted toes, they look even better with a pair of coloured tights peeking through as well. If you prefer to keep the look low key, black tights look smashingly chic too!

Nine West stores offer a smart pair of black suede open toe booties ($99), pictured right. They have a great buckled sling back and a fabulously shaped heel, and come in a variety of colours such as gray, navy and classic black leather.

As we are seeing lots of biker influenced fashions such as leather bombers, multi-chain necklaces, zipper detailing on denim and liquid leggings, why not embrace this trend through footwear. I found a great ankle boot at Town Shoes ($118) that closely resembles the footwear worn by the models in Alberta Ferretti's latest collection. This boot is complete with hardware detailing and a lower heel for those of you who wince at the thought of three-inch stems. This bootie would look ravishing with a pair of black denims or for an of the moment look, a bright pair of contrasting tights! They're also a great choice of footwear paired with a feminine winter floral dress, as it adds a bit of rugged rock 'n' roll feel to your outfit.

Adding coloured ankle boots finishes off your outfit and brings it to life! Designer Stacey Bendet (alice + olivia) created a fantastic Rivington Ankle Boot ($48) for Payless Shoe stores. This spaceage patent boot comes in both black and red and features a front zip closure covered by a shield that snaps on one side. Though, the boot is an immense 4.5 inches tall, the wedge heel makes this shoe comfortable despite the height.
