Around the Ring: Update from the ring

Well, we've come off of Wrestlemania and it seems like there's some momentum going into Backlash. Let's take a quick peek:

- We see an upcoming program with HBK and Batista that should be decent (take their heated promo on Jericho's Highlight Reel).

- London and Kendrick (not to mention the tag team division) are getting more airtime and putting on some great matches.

- Mickie James looks like she's going to be pushed again now against Beth Phoenix.

- The main event for Backlash should be fun (but I think Orton will score another win).

- The Big Show and Khali are going to have a really neat match of the titans. Can you believe The Big Show's recent pop?

Let's just cross our fingers that WWE continues this push in quality of their programming over the summer break and is REALLY smart this year when trading people during this year's draft (which will probably be happening in two weeks on the three hour Raw).

On the TNA side of things, their LOCKDOWN PPV will happen on Sunday and each match will take place in a steel cage. Here are my picks and thoughts:

Six sides of steel: TNA World Heavyweight Championship Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle vs. The Samoan Submission Machine Samoa Joe
I'm going to pick that Joe will finally see some gold. If he doesn't, the storyline will still be interesting considering Joe says that he won't resign if he doesn't win.

Six sides of steel: Lethal Lockdown weapons match
Team Cage (Christian Cage, Sting, Kevin Nash, Rhino and Matt Morgan) vs. Team Tomko (Tomko, AJ Styles, Team 3D, “Cowboy” James Storm)
I think this match is on the card just so we can see how many people can fit in a cage at the same time and how much blood will be spilled. Seeing how this really won't do too much for storylines (unless a member of Team Cage turns), I'll pick Team Cage.

Six sides of steel: Xscape match for the X Championship
“Black Machismo” Jay Lethal vs. Curry Man vs. Sonjay Dutt vs. Johnny Devine vs. Shark Boy
I think Lethal will still win this because his program with Dutt still hasn't taken off quite yet.

Six sides of steel: Queen of the cage knockouts match Angelina Love vs. Velvet Sky vs. Salinas vs. Rhaka Khan vs. Traci vs. Christy Hemme vs. Jacqueline vs. Roxxi Laveaux
It's unfortunate that all the ladies won't be in the cage at the same time, but the final two that will make it into the ring to fight will be Khan and Love. Winner: Khan.

Six sides of steel: Mixed tag team match Booker T & Sharmell vs. Robert Roode & Payton Banks
I don't care about this feud anymore. Let's just say Booker wins and moves on to another storyline.

Six sides of steel: Former partners collide BG James vs. Kip James
If these two can make us believe that there's legitimate bad blood now between them and that Kip is really going to throw over 10 years of history out the window with this match, it may be good. Let's hope Kip really beats BG to a bloody pulp, show pure hatred and gets the win (for the story to continue).

Six sides of steel: Women's tag team match TNA Women's Champion Awesome Kong & Raisha Saeed vs. Gail Kim & ODB
How can you beat the team of Kim and ODB? Nuff said.
