Suiting yourself up in style

Suit, tuxedo, dress shirt or anything else you may find in your boyfriends closet is the newest trend hitting the runways this spring.

Dinner suit inspired wear for women comprising of the tuxedo bib top, blazers, slouchy suit pants along with high-waist super flair trousers, high-waist tuxedo shorts and tailored vests are popping up in collections by Karl Lagerfeld, Jens Laugsen, Ann Demeulemeester and Miu Miu.

This season's tux style is taking form in a variety of silhouettes, ranging from wide to slim and oversized to shrunken. High sheen metallics accenting neutral colour pallets add the perfect amount of chic to this boy meets girl style. You can catch celebs such as Kate Moss, Kirstin Dunst and Kate Bosworth rocking these undeniably sexy suits with the perfect touch of feminine edge.

My favourite designers take on the ultra femme, two piece suit was Miu Miu. Miuccia Prada borrowed certain elements from menswear, such as the popular tux bib top, fitted blouses, pleated bottoms, ruffles and tiers with the use of a variety of suiting fabrics. I fell in love with one garment in particular, that grasped the whole concept of the masculine look with a punch of feminine sex appeal. The outfit was made up of a white long sleeve fitted blouse, with a bib front laced with ruffles, tucked into a black mini, just sweeping the upper thigh.

Going out and purchasing one of these wanted runway outfits is, well, out of the question for the average college student. Wondering where you can purchase these most desirable items for less? After a few hours of sourcing out the perfect pieces, I have managed to nick this chic look straight from the runway, while saving you a couple hundred dollars.

I like this Zagari ruffled blouse from Forever 21($27.80) it's the perfect mixture of chic elegance and classic style. This blouse would also coordinate well with a pair of denims, slouchy wide leg or skinny fit for a more casual look.

Show some leg off with this flirty, black bubble skirt from Joe Fresh ($24.00). With its natural waist line fit, this skirt is sure to compliment any figure. The classic colour makes it effortless to pair with any top, making it a must have staple in any spring wardrobe.

To complete the look, match this outfit with a pair of femme oxfords, one of spring's fashion essentials. These shoes resemble men's footwear with feminine features such as high heels, cut-out detailing, sassy lace up bows, peep toe openings and come in a variety of patented finishes and classic leather with creamy metallic accents. I fell in love with the Made by Elves Evan Oxfords (Urban Outfitters, $59.99).

And there you have it fashionistas, this season's most playful trend at an unbeatable price!
