Chick flick is ok pick

27 Dresses

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride. “Grey's Anatomy” star Katherine Heigl brings life and a lot of appeal to the comical chick flick, 27 Dresses.

Jane (Katherine Heigl) has had a fascination with weddings for her entire life. Her sweet and helpful manor makes her perfect for assisting brides on their wedding day. However, helping other people celebrate the most important day in their lives has become the most important aspect of her life. Her responsibilities descend from raising her little sister Tess as a child, after their mother passed away.

Jane is so completely devoted to weddings that she agrees to be in two weddings in the same night, at the same time. Hiring a taxi to drive her back and forth between the weddings all night, while she changes gowns in the back seat, was her solution the problem.

Jane gets caught performing her runabout by a cynical, anti-marriage man named Kevin (James Marsden). After an interesting conversation in the taxi, Jane leaves thinking the worst of Kevin and Kevin is left with more than just a feeling. Finding Jane's day planner, which is filled with her wedding obligations, Kevin seizes the opportunity to further himself in his career.

Kevin is the wedding announcements writer for a well-read New York City paper and he sees Jane as the perfect subject to write an expose about and finally get moved from wedding writing to features. It seems that life for Jane could get a little complicated. With the arrival of Tess back home, Jane's world is completely turned upside down.

I enjoyed this movie. It was a classic chick-flick. Even though the plot was slightly predictable as to how it would run its course, which is expected from this type of movie.

Predictability is part of the fun because it makes the movie safe without being boring. With the classic chick flick, you know what you are going to get going in and this movie provided lots of laughs and romance.

Katherine Heigl (Knocked Up) was great. She just seems so fun and free and she really suited her role. I have really enjoyed her transition from television to movies and I hope that it continues.

James Marsden (X-Men 3), with his striking good looks, experience and talent, added a lot to this movie. One of my favourite parts in the movie involves the drunken singing of “Benny and The Jets.” I recommend this movie to anyone who likes chick flicks and Katherine Heigl.

Final Words: Saw it. Liked it. “You don't have any needs?”
“No, I'm Jesus.”
