Around the Ring: Rumours du jour

Let's start this week off with some hot rumours! While TNA is off to a good start this year, they seem to have lost two really good workers. First off, it is likely that WWE has signed Ron “The Truth” Killings back. Remember when “The Truth” used to wrestle for WWE under the name of K-Kwik?

Speaking of under utilized, Chris Harris (former tag champ in TNA with James Storm), has parted ways with TNA. I didn't enjoy the whiney character that they had Harris portraying. I see IC gold around Harris' waist within six months if he joins WWE.

Another rumour has The Big Show agreeing to a new deal with WWE. I think WWE needs more heels and it would be great to see Show come in and tear shit up. If he comes back with his eyes on gold, it would be awesome. The only problem is, Smackdown and Raw both have heel champions and too many faces gunning for them. It'll be interesting to see where he fits in if the rumours are true.

TNA had a solid showing last week. The rematch with Awesome Kong and Gail Kim was excellent. It's amazing these two not only got the main event slot (I don't ever remember WWE having a women's championship main event), but these two put together another excellent match the night after the PPV (although it was a taping). The ending, where Kong gave Kim three powerbombs was surreal. It's been reported that Kim suffered a mild concussion. Let's hope for another excellent match between these two in the future.

Miss Brooks finally got her split from Robert Roode (one of the best heels in the business). Her replacement is the stalker #1 fan that has been teased for months: Miss Banks. Her attack on Brooks wasn't the best (kinda soft) but we'll see who she aligns herself with.

Anyone like the “Marlena” reference that was given when Kaz renamed Dustin Runnels (I mean, Black Reign's) rat?

Once again, WWE bringing in Eddie Gurrerro's death and Vickie “moving on” into a storyline is sickening. Other than that “angle,” Smackdown was pretty boring.

Raw wasn't too exciting until the end. The show seemed like an episode that was unfocused except for two things that really boggled my mind.

Firstly, Triple H is out of the Rumble match, but he goes on a rampage, destroys McMahon's video screen (fake explosions and all) and then he's granted a chance to get back in the Rumble? Mind you, HHH has to win his match and he will probably succeed.

Second, why would WWE risk the championship match at the Rumble for a stunt? Having Orton and Hardy face off takes some of the impact of watching them square off at the Rumble. And what was it for? Two spots!!! Orton falling off the edge of the entrance way wasn't that impressive and although Hardy's jump off of the lighting fixture was cool, you can tell he didn't even land on Orton! I don't think many people bought this and they should have saved it for the match itself or a rematch.

Next week: Rumble predictions!
