Women's team getting national recognition

New blood is proving to be a great fit for Falcon soccer.

The coaching staff, led by Eva Havaris, are having no problems with adjusting to Ontario College Athletic Association (OCAA) level competition, and are currently guiding their team to an undefeated 5-0 record.

With victories over Mohawk (2-0), Humber (2-0), and Cambrian (3-0) the Falcons hold the top spot in the OCAA West division, and were subsequently named OCAA team of the week for their dominating performances.

Leading the way for Fanshawe was freshman sensation Melissa Elie. Elie had a tally in each of Fanshawe's three victories, and currently has an OCAA leading six goals on the season.

Also scoring in these contests for Fanshawe were Sarah Nishikawa, Carly Hall, Jessica Orr and Emily Costello.

Fanshawe's performance has earned them national recognition as well. The Falcons rank fourth in the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) just behind number one ranked FX Garneau Elans (Quebec), number two Mount Royal Cougars (Alberta), and number three Langara Falcons (British Columbia).

The Falcons travel to Sheridan on October 6th, Lambton on October 11th, and Conestoga on October 19th to finish off their regular season.
