The men's volleyball team saw the introduction of a new coach earlier this month in the form of former Falcon's captain and MVP Josh Westgate. The team is hoping that the former player will help lead the team to a title on home court this coming winter as Fanshawe is slated to host the Belairdirect 2007-08 OCAA Provincial Men's Volleyball Championship. Westgate has spent the past two seasons as assistant coach under the now retired Dave McMillan.

The women's soccer team has been working out under the watchful eye of their new coach for a few weeks now. Martin Painter, who spent six seasons playing for the Western Mustangs, has several years experience coaching local provincial girls teams, including the U-16 “Supernova's” to both provincial and national titles last season.

“I have a good mix of players from a lot of different backgrounds,” said Painter in regards to his team. “Things have been going well, and they've improved already in two weeks, so it's just a matter of getting everyone on the same page.

“(Working at Fanshawe) It's a challenge, I've never coached at the college level and there's a lot of camaraderie shown by the team and the athletics department.”
