Finding your way with Financial Aid

How can I find out the status of my OSAP application?
Once you have submitted your application, you will want to know what is happening with it. Was it processed? Am I eligible? How much funding will I get? How and when will I get my funding? These are questions which most students want answers to. The OSAP website is the best way to keep track of the status of your application, because information is displayed as soon as it is available. Go to http://osap.gov.on.ca for information on these and other features.

How do I pick up my OSAP assistance?
If you are attending the London campus, you will require an appointment to pick up your OSAP assistance between August 27 and September 28. Extra staff are available during this peak time period to release student loans.

Starting August 20, 2007, you have the ability to book your own appointment online at http://www.fanshawec.ca/financial/appointments.asp.

You must bring your actual government issued Social Insurance Card and Student Campus Photo ID card with you to your scheduled appointment.

Appointments are required again January 3 — February 1, 2008. Appointment calendar will open December 20, 2007.

If you are attending the St. Thomas, Simcoe, Woodstock or Tillsonburg campus, please contact your campus to schedule an appointment to pick up your student loans.

You must bring your actual government issued Social Insurance Card and Student Campus Photo ID card with you to your scheduled appointment.

Help! I have lost my Social Insurance Card.
If you have lost your Social Insurance Card one of the following alternative pieces of information will be accepted on a one-time only basis:

- An original copy of your Canada Revenue Agency Notice of Assessment
- An original copy of your Canada Revenue Agency GST Credit Notice
- An original copy of your Canada Child Tax Benefit Notice

Please note: you are required to produce your actual government issued Social Insurance Card on all subsequent visits to the Financial Aid Office to pick up funding or make inquiries about your status. No further exceptions will be made.

Once I have my student loan document what do I do with it?
Once your student loan document is released to you by the Financial Aid Office you will be directed to meet a representative of EDULINX in room F1012. EDULINX staff will collect your banking information (make sure you have a void cheque) and your loan document(s). EDULINX directs your loan document(s) and your banking information to the National Student Loan Service Centre for processing. EDULINX staff will be on campus from August 27 to September 28.

Starting October 1 students will have to take their loan document(s) to a participating Canada Postal Outlet. Applications must be filed within 90-days of the end of the final examination period.

What are the deadline dates to apply for OSAP?
Applications received prior to the 90-day deadline, but 45-days or more after classes start will be assessed on a prorated basis. Those who will be students for only one semester must apply within 30 days of the start date for study.
