My Bits and Bytes: Sizzlin' summer games

For this special edition of My Bits and Bytes, I'm going to touch on a few things that I've been playing that are available for purchase or download on various systems.

Guitar Hero 2: Xbox 360

I've had it for two months now and I'm still addicted to this thing. I need to complete two more songs to complete the game on expert (yes, I did Psychobilly Freakout) and I'm in the top 3,000 players (with an aim to get into the top 1000).

The downloadable content has pissed-off a lot of players. Since the game has been released, only three random song packs have been available to download for approximately $7 a piece. We thought that we may be able to pick and choose the songs we would like or perhaps even download the whole set list of Guitar Hero 1 for a decent price. What happens? We get song packs that don't blend (and that are overpriced at that), almost two months without any new content and the announcement of Guitar Hero Rocks the 80s landing exclusivley on the PS2! I'm so pissed-off about all of that, but I still can't help trying to land a bigger score every day on the songs that I'm starting to get a little tired of. Here's hoping, right?

Double Dragon:Xbox 360

If you can download some Xbox Live content, relive the glory days of the arcade with this download. Yes, the game is cheap as hell and has piss-poor collision detection, but the nostalgia is worth the $7. I think it's awesome that we get an updated visual experience with this game but have the option to play it with the original graphics. Not a bad purchase for quick fun and some easy achievement points.

Ninja Gaiden:Wii

You have a Wii? Good. Have you downloaded Ninja Gaiden yet? NO?!?!? Get going! This game is one of the best side-scrollers ever made. The first few levels may be a walk in the park, but this game gets hard. Fast. The enemies are cheap and reappear on the fly, the music is killer, the game play is phenomenal and the story rocks. You may never be able to beat it, but you'll keep trying.

Castlevania:Wii

I guess I can say the exact thing for this game as I did with Ninja Gaiden (minus the story part). If you've never played this, this is the chance to relive gaming history. This is another no-brainer purchase that all gaming fans should experience.
