Ashton and Demi's marriage proves older women can keep up with younger men

One man's trash is another man's treasure. To be more specific, Bruce Willis's trash is Ashton Kutcher's treasure.

The Punk'd prince and his sugar momma, Demi Moore, reportedly wed in a traditional Kabballah ceremony on September 25 in L.A.

Despite the couple's 15-year age gap — Kutcher is 27 and Moore is 42 — the high profile pair has successfully made it through two years of dating, which is almost four decades in Hollywood years.

This is the first marriage for Kutcher, who has been tied to stars like Brittney Murphy in the past, but the third for Moore. She was first married to rocker Freddie Moore from 1980-84 and Bruce Willis from 1987-2000, who was reportedly at the weekend wedding. Moore was also engaged to Emilio Estevez in the 1980's.

Back in 2003 it looked as if Moore was using Kutcher as a public relations ploy to gain media attention. Her career was fading, but by walking hand in hand with her new boy-toy down the red carpet of the Charlie's Angels premiere, Moore told the world she was back.

The Kutcher/Moore relationship sparked the media's interest in the phenomenon that is older women dating younger men. Trail blazers like Susan Sarandon, who began dating 12 year her junior actor Tim Robbins in 1988, and Goldie Hawn have set the path for stars like Cameron Diaz, Madonna, Sheryl Crow and Julianne Moore, who are all in relationships with younger men.

A woman's role in the world has come along way since the early days of feminism in the 1960's, which can explain the societal change in the dating scene.

Today, more than ever, women are focused on their careers instead of keeping a home and raising a family. They are getting divorced at increasing rates. But more importantly, they are looking for men who are driven, energetic and less concerned with the moneymaking mentality of their baby boomer counterparts.

The biological clock would have ticked for most women by age 30 in the 1970's, but it has been rewired due to medical science and in-vitro fertilization. Younger men are more in tune with their feelings and don't mind being a stay-at-home dad, which suits a career woman just fine. Adoption is another route that has become popular and it saves the woman from losing that figure she has tried so hard to perfect.

Moore didn't choose the adoption route, and has three children with Bruce, but was still able to get back her pre-pregnancy body. And everyone knows about the very pregnant, very naked Vanity Fair cover that she did; that famous photo shows that Demi isn't afraid of a few stretch marks, or at least that she trusts her plastic surgeon.

Techniques like plastic surgery are also popular; Moore has been accused of having everything from her breasts to her saggy knees in for a tune-up. Surgery, combined with a regimented workout schedule and carb counting, are now the norm. Women are looking younger then ever and seeking men that can keep up to them.
In the end who really cares? As long as they are happy and don't end up messing their kids up for life, it's really none of our business.
