Around the Ring: HHH out until summer

Oh crap in a hat. I was so wrong with my predictions about the New Years Revolution PPV.

First off, the Jeff Hardy/Johnny Nitro match was good, but not to the level I thought they would take it. It was pretty slow with few big spots. I have to say that the ending was timed perfectly and it was an interesting twist on a cage match ending. I thought Nitro was going to win the thing, but with Hardy kicking the door open at the perfect time, Nitro got the cage door between the legs allowing Hardy to crawl out for the win.

The rest of the card was decent, but I still can't believe the WWE let John Cena get such an easy pin on Umaga. With few good heels on Raw, I thought that they would have let Umaga at least get the win via a DQ or something. Oh well...

The news of the night was when HHH tore his quadriceps once again. I guess the good thing is that it happened on the opposite leg this time instead of the leg that he injured about three or four years ago. They say he'll be back in four to six months, but I say that the earliest we'll see him in the ring (or even his appearance) will be in August around the Summerslam PPV (unless there is a WM run-in).

With DX and HHH's program with Rated RKO going into Wrestlemania, this is really going to botch up the WWE's long-term plans for DX, R-RKO and Wrestlemania. I guess we'll find out by the time you all read this.

The Great Khali also made his Raw appearance in what seemed to be a pretty quick decision. Khali was supposedly going to be built up as the next big monster in ECW and face Bobby Lashley for the ECW championship at Wrestlemania. Hopefully the Cena/Khali feud won't last too long because, for the most part, huge men like Khali don't do too much in the ring. Remember Giant Gonzalez?

Smackdown seems to be getting a little bit better in the performance and storyline department. The race against the clock is a neat idea, but I still can't stand JBL and it really affects my attitude towards the show (that and the blue colour scheme).

I was going to touch on the TNA PPV that's taking place this (or last) Sunday, but I'll just comment on the results next week. I'll probably be getting the PPV because like I always say, TNA puts on one of the best damn PPVs you'll see. They usually go to or over 10:45 p.m. and you get your money's worth in every match, even if you really don't know the story or some of the younger performers. If you don't know these guys, watching Thursdays at 9p.m. on Spike is an easy solution!
