A Fanshawe student is confirmed as presumptive positive for COVID-19, Interrobang has learned. According to an email sent out to Fanshawe employees, the student lives in residence on campus and has been hospitalized. Those who may have been in close contact with the individual have been notified and are also in self-isolation.

Brenda Henry, senior manager of Fanshawe’s environment, health, safety and emergency services told Interrobang that the student did not visit the Student Centre. However, due to privacy concerns, Fanshawe’s communications is unable to release any other specifics regarding the student or other people affected.

“Any person who was in direct contact with our student has been contacted by the Middlesex London Health Unit,” Henry said in an email.

Student health and safety continues to be a top priority. Students remaining in residence will be relocated so that only one student occupies each unit on campus. This will help further protect the health of both our staff and students. In addition, occupancy levels in elevators on campus has been restricted to one person at a time.”

All staff and students should continue to follow the guidelines from the Middlesex London Health Unit related to COVID 19. You can find those here healthunit.com/novel-coronavirus.
