Charity and new album bring bands to Shack

A brand new album and a great cause bring Staylefish back to the Out Back Shack this Friday, along with Ruth's Hat and Radcliff.

The bands are gathered to help Fanshawe's 22 marketing team students raise funds to go to the Ontario College Marketing competition in Ottawa later in the school year.

Aside from the fundraiser and other spectacles going on that night, something not to be over looked is the release of StayleFish's a brand new full-length album, since performing with the Bedouin Soundclash during frosh week.

For anyone who picked up their last full length, you'll definitely notice something different about the new one…it kicks the shit out of their old one!

StayleFish's latest release, entitled “Audible Addiction,” certainly lives up to its name, and includes14 tracks of rhythmically-charged head candy that you can relax and rock out too in true reggae fashion.

The CD opens up with “The Spark”, a politically charged song with some Sublime influence that introduces the band in a unique way. From there on in it's 13 tracks of twanging guitars mixed with a melodic smoothness, backed by a slow and steady bass beat, organ style keyboards, which all together add an extra sway to your body.

Of course, no song would be complete without some lyrics to accompany the music, which are done in-part by lead singer Dreddy, who can really carry a note and a beat to match it. Lyrically the album is pretty good too. Songs range from politics, girls, drugs and missing home. So anybody can find some way to relate.

But musically is where StayleFish really hits you hard and you can't help but say “Wow, I've been depriving my CD collection.”

So don't miss out on a great show on Friday, November 10 at the Outback Shack. Cover at the door is $6, and remember that all proceeds go to Fanshawe's marketing students so they can kick-ass in the competition.
