London can be intimidating for those who are not familiar with it. Even if you grew up in London, there is so much in this city. From shopping malls to local restaurants, London has a lot to offer. All this being said, London can be confusing for those who aren’t familiar with it just yet. London is broken up in five parts: northeast, northwest, southeast, southwest and central/downtown.

NORTHEAST LONDON:

This part of London is where Fanshawe College’s main campus is located. Some of the notable places to visit are: Banting house (historical building), Palace Theatre, Kiwanis Park (skatepark) and the Western Fair district. Some restaurants include, The Root Cellar, Nova Era Bakery, Mykonos and True Taco. Some stores that students can get their groceries from include Food Basics, Superstore, Thai Asia Grocery & Thai Foods and Darryll and Tracy’s No Frills.

NORTHWEST LONDON:

Northwest London includes Hyde Park and Masonville Mall. Western University and Masonville are the two most notable places in this area. Masonville includes stores such as Forever 21, Zara and H&M. The mall also includes the Rec Room which is a restaurant and arcade as well as SilverCity, a movie theatre. Some other noteworthy places include Costco, Walmart, Sobeys, Farm Boy, Indo-Asian groceries and spices, Fleetway and Labbat Park. Some restaurants in the area include Heart Sushi, Crabby Joe’s Bar & Grill and Under the Volcano.

SOUTHEAST LONDON:

Southeast London doesn’t have as much to visit as other parts of the city, however, there are still a few useful places you may want to visit. This includes the Argyle Mall/Plaza. Argyle includes a Walmart, No Frills, LCBO, Winners, Canadian Tire, Sport Chek and Home Depot. When it comes to food options, Southeast also has a Qudoba, East Side Marios and a Bulk Barn

SOUTHWEST LONDON:

This part of town has a lot to offer much like Northwest London. One of the main attractions is White Oaks Mall. Some of the stores include Dollarama, Ardene, Urban Planet, Walmart and Sunrise Records. The mall also includes a food court with restaurants like Wikki Hut, Thai Express, YoYo Yogurts Cafe, NewYork Fries and A&W. Also in Southwest London is the adorable Wortley Village. Wortley Village is a quiet part of London that has so much to offer especially for its size. Restaurants include the Black Walnut Café, Wolfe of Wortley and Plant Matter Kitchen (which serves vegan and vegetarian options and plant-based food).

CENTRAL/ DOWNTOWN LONDON:

Last, but certainly not least, is downtown. Downtown London always has something going on and there is always a place to check out. Plenty of events happen at several locations downtown typically at Budweiser Gardens, London Music Hall and the Grand Theatre. Downtown has so much to offer in terms of food, including at the Covent Garden Market, which offers fresh local food from many nationalities. Other restaurants downtown include Jewel of India, The Works, and Mythic Grill. Downtown is also home to Richmond Row, a wonderful place to find some good food and some shops.
