Year-end, one more Project L.E.A.R.N.

After classes, after projects, after exams — there's always an urge to celebrate. Because of this, London Police Service (LPS) will have more of a presence around the student residences close to downtown London and the Fanshawe and Western University campuses.

Students by now are no strangers to Project L.E.A.R.N., a police initiative to increase patrol in student-heavy areas, but media relations officer Const. Ken Steeves of the LPS says the spring Project is not as high profile as the fall.

“The spring isn't as high of a need for police attendance,” Steeves said. “[But] our response is gauged by the actions displayed.”

Steeves does say that though police presence will be increased, it will not be to the same caliber as the fall Project L.E.A.R.N.

The Fanshawe Student Union will be handing out flyers to students in the Fleming, Farnsborough and Thurman area with information on Project L.E.A.R.N. and garbage disposal.

“We help out students in any way that we can to try to get them a hassle- free move out and hassle-free end of the semester,” Stewart said.

He says it's important to inform students.

“We want students to be informed about what they have the right to do and what might get them a ticket,” Stewart said. “We want them to celebrate another successful year, we just want them to do it in a respectful manner.”

“We've got different initiatives in place to help them out like garbage disposal and that type of stuff.”

At the time of print, there was no confirmation on what type of disposal will be available, but students can be assured some method will be in place for the last weeks of April going into May.

Both the LPS and FSU want students to enjoy themselves at the end of the year, but one thing remains.

“Don't invite us to your party,” he said. “If there's no need for us to be there, then we won't be there.”
