Fall fashion: 10 pieces you need this season

It’s very hard to believe we are in October already, which means it’s officially fall.

Fall is by far my favourite of the four seasons. Vibrant hues as the leaves change colour, melancholic moods and pumpkin spice lattes. Not to mention, Thanksgiving break is just around the corner (where we are back at our parents’, eating twice our body weight in food) and Halloween (where we get to dress up in weird, cool, sometimes gross costumes and get free candy – that’s if you’re short enough and can pass for a 10 year old.

Really, what’s not to love about fall? Fall is a time of transition and as the weather changes. We get to feel the menopausal brunt of fall where it’s no longer summer and not quite winter. The unpredict-able moods swings of the season can make it hard for us to leave our  beds yet alone our houses. Like se-riously, who wants to get dressed and brave the cold all in the name of education when we would rather stay in bed, checking our Pinterest, Tumblr and Instagram feeds.

At times I honestly don’t want to I am sure you share the sentiment as well. As college kids, that’s simply not an acceptable when we are pay-ing good money for education in or-der to get jobs and live comfortable lives of purpose supplemented by our occasional shopping sprees.

But, how do we beat the ev-er-changing weather patterns of fall and look good doing it?

I have one word for you: layers

Layering is nothing new for fall fashion. It’s literally the only prac-tical way of dressing for this season  – if not all seasons.

Fall has become synonymous with sweaters/sweatshirts, jackets and coats. They are like the fashion trinity of fall dressing, with the addition of boots and cool headwear such as fedoras and beanies.

These pieces are staples in my opinion and should act at foundation pieces, helping you put your fall ensembles together. They are versatile and the options are endless.

I don’t know about you, but far too often I have left my house bundled up, under the impression that’s is going to be really cold or snow storm only to find myself fanning my armpits and thinking it’s mid- June in the middle of November.

With layering, it’s easy to peel off or put on layers according to the temperature. This season, designers have outdone themselves providing us with lots of great sweaters, jackets and coats for a fashionable transition into the fall and winter months.

I have complied a list 10 must have pieces for this season that would make you look and feel like a star – on a budget.
