The Hedgerow, a band comprised of students in Fanshawe’s Music Industry Arts program, plays energetic blues rock.

What do you think of when you hear the words “blues rock”? Jack White? Led Zeppelin? Jimi Hendrix? Let's add another name to that list of huge artists with the introduction of Fanshawe's own The Hedgerow!

Made up of students from Fanshawe's Music Industry Arts program, The Hedgerow is an up and coming band with a lot to offer.

Founding members Connor Grieve, Aurora Evans, Mike Julian and Matt Ohanian started off as classmates just looking for a few people to jam with in their spare time. After a few times playing together, something clicked and The Hedgerow was born.

Their raw, grooving sound comes from a variety of influences as all of the members come from different musical backgrounds. Some of their biggest influences include Led Zeppelin, Black Keys, White Stripes, Pearl Jam and Monster Truck. Unlike some bands with ever-changing lineups, these four have found the best combination of everything they love and turned it in to something brand new.

If they had to describe their live show in just three words, Grieve said they would have to choose “Energetic, fun and... drunk!” Although they don't encourage binge drinking, they like their audience to have as much fun as they are having performing on stage.

If all of these things haven't got your attention yet, here's something that you don't see very often... a female drummer! She may be a pint-sized beauty, but she can play a mean beat and adds one of the most unique factors to the band's image. Perhaps that is what makes this band so intriguing to viewers.

If you're interested in hearing more from The Hedgerow, you can find them playing shows around the London area from now until the group graduates in April. Can't make it out to one of their shows? You can also find them online on Bandcamp, Facebook and Twitter.

Also, keep an eye out for a true rock 'n' roll album as the band is hoping to release their debut EP within the next year.
