Sid the Kid coming back to London to battle Philadelphia Flyers in NHL pre-season action

The “Hometown” Philadelphia Flyers will battle Sidney Crosby and their cross-state rivals Pittsburgh Penguins in NHL Pre-Season Action September 24 at the John Labatt Centre. It will be Philadelphia's third trip to London in as many years for a pre-season tilt.

This will mark the return of Sidney Crosby to the same ice in which he completed his junior career as a member of the Rimouski Oceanic in a memorable 4-0 loss to the London Knights in the 2005 Memorial Cup final.

"The City of London has truly embraced the Flyers and helped make the John Labatt Centre our 'home away from home,'" said Comcast-Spectacor President Peter Luukko who is also chairman of Global Spectrum Facility Management. "We enjoy bringing the Flyers to London so they can get up close and see some of the premiere players in the National Hockey League. The City of London has been terrific to the Flyers and our organization and we can't wait to get back there soon."

The Flyers will bring in NHL stars such as London's Jeff Carter, Keith Primeau, Simon Gagne and Mike Richards.  The Penguins counter with the NHL's first overall selection last season in Crosby along with many other notable NHL stars.

Brian Ohl , Global Spectrum Facility Management's Regional V.P. and General Manager of the John Labatt Centre said of the upcoming game “We are extremely pleased to welcome back the Flyers to the John Labatt Centre. This looks to be an exciting match-up and we are proud to present it to the people of London.”  Both Global Spectrum Facility Management and the Philadelphia Flyers are subsidiaries of Philadelphia-based sports and entertainment firm Comcast-Spectacor.

Tickets for this pre-season game go onsale Monday, June 12 at 10am at the John Labatt Centre Box Office, by phone at 1-866-455-2849 or online at: www.johnlabattcentre.com.
